Editorial Policy and Fact-Checking
How ETFap researches, writes, checks and corrects what it publishes.
Who writes ETFap
Every article and page on ETFap is written and reviewed by Charlie Nguyen, a pen name used by the site’s founder, who has traded options since 2010, now trades full time, and brings a casino advantage player’s math-first habits to every page. A pen name keeps the focus on the work rather than the person; the experience and the standards behind it are real.
Where numbers come from
- Fund data (coins per share, coins held, fees) comes from each issuer’s own website or holdings file. Every figure shows its as-of date and a link to its source.
- Market data (SPX, SPY, QQQ, VIX and option quotes) comes from Cboe’s free delayed feed and other public sources, and is labelled as delayed or end of day.
- Backtests and statistics in articles are computed from public price history with code we keep alongside each article, so every figure can be re-run.
- Outside facts (tax rules, contract specs, research findings) are linked to the primary source, such as the IRS, Cboe, the OCC or the original study.
Fact-checking rules
- We never invent numbers. If a figure cannot be confirmed from a source or our own calculation, it is left out.
- Every example and model figure is labelled as an example or a model estimate, not a result or a forecast.
- Trade ideas show their probability of profit (POP), probability of touch (POT) and chance of 50% profit (P50), plus the 1-year IV rank of the underlying, so the risk is visible next to the reward.
- Articles are reviewed for accuracy on a monthly schedule, and pages that depend on market data are refreshed every trading day.
Independence and advertising
ETFap is not paid by any fund issuer, broker or exchange, and no company can buy a mention, a ranking or a review. Ads are served by Google and are clearly separate from our content; advertisers have no say in what we write. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade.
Corrections
If you find a wrong number or a broken link, email [email protected] with the page and, if you can, a link to the correct source. We check every report, fix confirmed errors promptly, and update the page’s date when the change is material.
